About Parbatta

Geography & Demographics

Parbatta, located in Khagaria district, Bihar (PIN: 851216), is 5 km from the Ganges River. Spanning ~232 km² (subdivision) and ~10–11 km² (town), it had a population of 244,066 across 48,843 households in 2011, with a density of ~1,053/km². The town alone has ~10,789 residents in 2,078 households. Literacy stands at 71.7% (male: 79.2%, female: 63%). Official languages are Hindi and English, with Maithili and Angika widely spoken.

History & Governance

Carved from Munger district in 1981, Parbatta is the headquarters of CD Block and Assembly Constituency 151, part of Khagaria Lok Sabha. Administered by Parbatta Nagar Panchayat, its current MLA is Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (JD-U, since 2020), following his father, Ramanand Prasad Singh, a former Transport Minister.
